At the 9th annual edition of Hollywood Music in Media Awards – that acknowledges music in film, TV, video games, commercials, and trailers – Black Panther and A Star is Born emerged as the big winners. Black Panther took home three prizes including Soundtrack Album, Original Song (Sci-fi, Fantasy, Horror Film category) and Original Score that went to Ludwig Goransson. The soundtrack of the film features the Nobel Prize-winning Kendrick Lamar as well as artists such as Travis Scott, SZA, The Weeknd and Khalid.
The winning original song for Black Panther, ‘All The Stars’ was written by Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Sounwave, and Al Shux and performed by Kendrick Lamar and SZA.
Moving onto A Star is Born, a potential Oscar contender, the film nabbed two trophies including one for Original Song (Feature Film) called ‘Shallow’ that was written by Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando, and Andrew Wyatt and performed by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.
The second award for the film came in the category of Outstanding Music Supervision – Film for Julianne Jordan & Julia Michaels ahead of films like Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Deadpool 2.
Other winners of the night included veteran Alexandre Desplat as well as Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige and Willie Nelson across various categories.
